What exactly is a press cylinder?

As a so-called oil press cylinder, filter basket or press chamber, the cylinder forms the housing for the material being pressed. In conjunction with components such as press spindle, press head and nozzle, high pressure builds up inside, which extracts the oil from oil-bearing seeds or nuts. In doing so, the cylinder must withstand extreme forces whilst ensuring effective heat dissipation – particularly important in the production of cold-pressed oils to preserve their quality.
